Mission

APMAR (Association Of Polish Manning Agents and Recruiters)is an organization established on May 23, 1992. The aim of creating our organization was to establish a forum for the exchange of experiences and cooperation among member companies, in order to organize the emerging job placement market for seafarers. Other goals include shaping and promoting professional ethics, cooperating with training centers, maritime schools and academies, and collaborating with maritime administration.

The Association also cooperates with Members of Parliament, Senators, and the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation to promote the seafaring profession and the interests of seafarers through these institutions.

Representatives of the Association actively participate in conferences dedicated to seafarers’ work both in Poland and abroad, and in meetings with seafarers’ trade unions.

The number of member companies in the Association has grown from three founding companies in 1992 to 41 companies today. The Association includes leading recruitment and management firms through which approximately 15,000 Polish seafarers—both ratings and officers—are employed.

Since 2010, APMAR has been a member of Eurocrew, an association that brings together recruitment organizations from across Europe.

Main Goals of APMAR:

• Promoting ethical principles in the field of job placement for seafarers;
• Promoting the seafaring profession among young people;
• Supporting legislative and economic initiatives in Poland and the EU aimed at preserving jobs for Polish seafarers;
• Cooperating with training centers, maritime schools and academies to align training processes and content with the needs of the modern market;
• Serving an advisory and consultative role on issues related to the seafarers’ labor market and training, in cooperation with public administration and trade unions.
